Octopus Project – Small Wonder Show

I am participating in a very cool project – The Octopus Project.

Every few months, a ‘spark’ is sent out to multiple artists designed to generate ideas. The result is a show with mixed media artists, photographers and painters all working on the same theme. The Octopus Project was founded by Toronto mixed media artist Catherine Mellinger and Toronto photographer Melanie Gordon. Both Mellinger and Gordon will be showing work as part of the series, hosted by Melanie Gordon Photography. More information can be found on their Facebook page.

This 9th exhibition is part of the Scotiabank Nuit Blanche and is taking place October 3-4 from 11:00am - 6:00pm at the Case Goods Warehouse, Building 74, Studio 410 in the Distillery Historic District . The reception is on Saturday from 5:00 – 7:00.

It was a challenge to work so small – 10” x 10” was the maximum size and I had to rework the piece a number of times in order to capture the dynamic free flow that I like to do with a confined space – very educational. In the end, the painting was another in the series of “River From Above” and I am pleased with it.
